Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is Trapo useful if we already have a general-purpose maintenance management system?
Yes, the general-purpose system is used to order parts while Trapo determines what parts to order. Trapo uses disk files to tell your general-purpose system which parts to order. The trap-specific information collected by Trapo allows it to manage steam trap maintenance much better than any general-purpose system:
- General-purpose systems can only (automatically) order replacement at calendar intervals. Trapo adjusts the intervals for seasonality and the use of motorized valves - extending the replacement intervals for most traps and reducing costs.
-
Trapo optimizes the trap testing intervals for each trap to reduce steam losses while minimizing testing and its hassles.
-
Trapo manages test samples to determine common traps' lives, further reducing testing and its hassles while minimizing trap-related costs.
-
Trapo's calculations and linkage with your steam trap sizing program help ensure proper trap application and sizing, increasing trap lives.
-
Trapo manages asbestos abatement incidental to trap replacement.
-
Trapo provides a parts framework supporting competitive bidding and/or outsourcing of trap and/or related asbestos replacement.
In summary, Trapo has a different, more specialized purpose than a general-purpose maintenance management system. It is designed to work with such a system to improve steam trap management.
